LAS VEGAS (July 8, 2012) - A new fitness program for moms and their babies is strolling into Town Square on July 16. Stroller Strides® will offer moms a total body workout while their babies are engaged in songs and activities in their stroller. Classes will take place Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8:30 a.m. in Town Square Park and will be taught by certified instructors.
To celebrate its opening, Stroller Strides will host of free family event on Friday, August 17 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Town Square Park. The event will feature children’s activities, entertainment, and giveaways from BOB Stroller, Britax, Plum Organics, gDiapers, My Gym, and more. The celebration will benefit Safe Kids Clark County. Safe Kids Clark County is a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of injuries to children.
Stroller Strides features hour-long classes that include a five minute warm-up, 45 minutes of power walking with intervals of strength and body toning exercises using tubing, the stroller and the environment. The class concludes with 10 minutes of abs and stretching.
Babies should be at least six weeks of age to participate, and they can be up to any age as long as they remain in the stroller. Moms should wear athletic shoes, bring a towel or mat for ground exercises and any type of stroller.
Local resident Jessica Peralta decided to launch a franchise of Stroller Strides in Las Vegas after trying to find a business she could own as a stay at home mom that would involve her passion for motherhood and her nursing background.
“Stroller Strides takes a very holistic approach to motherhood by helping moms achieve their ultimate potential, both physically and emotionally,” said Peralta, a former Critical Care RN and Clinical Professor. “It helps build healthier communities by offering support and ongoing education all while inspiring our children to emulate their moms and make fitness a fun and important part of their lives. The program also provides moms with the opportunity to meet other mothers, engage in playgroups with their babies and form lasting friendships.”
Peralta chose Town Square to launch the program because of its central location at the intersection of I-15 and I-215, making it easily accessible for moms across the valley.
Stroller Strides is a great opportunity for Town Square to provide another fun family activity for moms and their babies,” said Jaimesen Mapes, marketing director for Town Square.
There are a variety of membership options for Stroller Strides, including packages and single classes. The first class is free so moms and their babies can enjoy a trial run.
