Certified Stroller Strides & Fit4Baby Fitness Instructor, Body Back Pro
My love for health and fitness began at a young age. Having started as a dancer and competitive gymnast for more than 10 years and then discovering a love for trail running, kickboxing, and all things cardio as an adult, it is no wonder that I felt right at home upon discovering Stroller Strides in early 2015.
After becoming a first-time mom in May 2014 and unexpectedly (but gladly) trading the hectic advertising life in for a role as a stay-at-home parent, I immediately learned that my days would never be the same. Everyone warns you, but not until you are in the midst of parenthood do you truly grasp the reality. As much as I treasured the opportunity to be with my son each and every day, like most stay-at-home moms, I found it nearly impossible to fit in any time for myself. An hour at the gym, which I needed more than almost anything else, was extremely unlikely; especially without the all-encompassing "mommy guilt."
It was around nine months into motherhood when Fit4Mom was recommended to me by a friend who thought it might be exactly what I was looking for. It only took one Stroller Strides class and we haven't looked back since! Not only can I get a great workout and be with my son, but the icing on the cake is that I am surrounded by other moms trying to achieve a similar balance. Sharing the good, the bad and the ugly with other moms going through that exact same thing, making friends along the way, makes all the difference in the world.
Fit4Mom has become a part of our weekly, if not daily schedule, and neither I nor my son would have it any other way. It is the exercise that got us to show up, but it is the community that keeps us coming back. Becoming an instructor for Fit4Mom feels like a natural step for me and just another part of my journey into motherhood. I only hope that I can encourage the same experience for other moms out there.
