Stroller Strides/Stroller Barre

How do I start?

Join us for a complimentary class! Select a class location and date that interests you and you can "enroll" for that class online.

What do I need for class?

We suggest athletic shoes, a towel or mat for our ground exercises and plenty of water. For outdoor classes, please bring a hat and/or sunblock. For Stroller Strides/Stroller Barre classes you just need you, your baby and the stroller. Just about any stroller will do, so long as it's not prone to tipping and your baby can be safely buckled in. You do not have to have a jogger. Stroller Strides fitness strollers are available at stores nationwide and online through BOB.

What if the weather is bad?

We will only cancel classes in extreme weather conditions. We encourage all clients to pre enroll for your classes so you can receive direct email communication from the instructor should there be any changes to the class meeting location. Please check our website for weather related announcements. Class cancellations will be announced at least 1 hour prior to class start time.

What do I do if my baby gets fussy during class?

Our first priority is the happiness of your baby. Tend to your baby first. We stop every few minutes for body toning, so you can always catch up with us if you get behind. Our instructors will do their very best to make the class enjoyable for both you and your baby!

How old does my baby have to be?

We recommend waiting until you have medical clearance from your physician (normally this is 6 weeks postpartum). Babies can take classes up to any age so long as they still enjoy a ride in the stroller and can be safely buckled in. Always get your doctor's permission before starting this or any other kind of exercise program.

How long are the workouts?

The workouts are 1-hour unless otherwise noted. The class is set up with a 5-minute warm up followed by a 45-minute Power Walk with the stroller that includes body toning stations. The last 10 minutes is for abs and stretching.

What is the difference between Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre?

Stroller Strides® is a total fitness program that moms can do WITH their babies. It includes power walking/jogging and intervals of strength and body toning exercise using exercise tubing, your stroller, and the environment. Stroller Barre® is a unique blend of ballet, Pilates, barre, yoga and stroller-based exercises incorporated with everything our moms love about Stroller Strides®. Through both programs, our nationally certified pre and postnatal instructors weave songs and activities into the routine designed to engage and entertain baby, while moms are led through a series of exercises specific to her role as Mom.

Fit4Baby

Can I workout during my pregnancy?

Pregnancy is the perfect time to commit to you and your baby's health. Exercise is an important component to your pregnant well being, as well as your strength as a new mom. Our program is designed to use the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) Guidelines for Exercise During Pregnancy so we advise you to take a look at them and share them with your healthcare provider.

Please click here to view a copy of the guidelines, and be sure to print one out so you can have an educated discussion with your care provider.

Can I begin or continue to workout during my pregnancy?

Provided that you have nothing that would preclude you from exercising, it IS safe to begin a workout regime while pregnant provided with your doctor's/midwife's approval, and you EASE in!

Our Fit4Baby program is the perfect place to start as we can help adapt your workout for each stage of pregnancy.

What can I expect during a Fit4Baby class and how long are the workouts?

All classes last 60 minutes and are interval based, combining elements of strength training, cardiovascular exercises and stretching and balancing exercises.

How is Fit4Baby different from prenatal yoga/pilates?

Unlike prenatal yoga and pilates we incorporate a cardio component as well as use resistance, strength and body weight training to help prepare you for delivery.

Our goal is that you will have all the elements needed to have a successful birth - muscles to help you in labor, cardiovascular endurance to help you during active labor, and muscles to help you function after your delivery.

What should I bring to class?

Be sure to wear comfortable athletic shoes (keep in mind shoe sizes may change throughout pregnancy) and workout clothing. You may use a towel or yoga mat for floor exercises and don't forget to bring your water to keep you properly hydrated!

Can I bring my older child(ren) to a Fit4Baby class?

This class is for expectant women only. However, we do have pregnant moms who attend our Stroller Strides classes when they have stroller aged children and are expecting their next child.

Body Back so much more than just a workout! We are a community of Moms where you will find support, encouragement, camaraderie and lifelong friendships. Through education, we help you to create a healthier home and more active lifestyle for your family. We believe you should be empowered and encouraged to push past your perceived limits and find inner strength while building physical strength. We strive to build you up and put you first to create your BEST YOU.

Do I need to Pre-Register or can I just show up?

For Body Back Sessions, you must pre-register to ensure your spot in the class. Body Back sessions sell out quickly, so you want to hold your spot by registering early.

For Body Back Boost, you need to pre-register so your instructor knows to expect you and can contact you if there are any changes to the class. We require a minimum number of clients to be enrolled in order to offer that class. If you can not make it to class you need to cancel with at least 24 hours notice, otherwise you will be charged for the class.

What is the difference between Body Back Sessions and Body Back Boost?

Body Back sessions are closed 8 week sessions with a max of 12 people. The sessions include 2 weekly workouts, meal plans, food journals, DVD’s, online support and before and after assessments.

Body Back Boost is just the workout, no commitment, drop-in basis, with a max of 25 people in class.

What is the workout like?

Body Back has 3 formats: Rounds, Traveling and Circuit. Each is a High Intensity Interval Training class with a combination of Cardio, Strength and Core. This method (HIIT) is proven to yield the best results and the highest afterburn of calories.

Do I need to be in great shape to participate in class?

No. We have all fitness levels in our classes, but we will warn you; these classes are hard! Our goal is to deliver a workout that will challenge any fitness level. You might not be able to do every single thing your first class, but you will be able to by the end of your 8 week session!

What do I need to bring to class?

A yoga mat or towel to do your abs and cool down. A resistance band ( we will provide one for you on your first day of class), plenty of water, and a towel for your sweat. You WILL sweat!

Can I do Body Back if I am pregnant?

No. This workout is not intended for pre-natal exercise and we do not recommend following the meal plans during pregnancy. If you become pregnant during the course of your Body Back session, please notify your instructor. We offer Fit4Baby and Stroller Strides as appropriate pre-natal exercise programs.

Can I bring kids to Body Back?

No. This class is for women 18 and up without children present.
