Transformation Tuesday: What does "change" look like?

So, we just opened our Body Back Fall Session Enrollment and I am always so excited by the energy in the emails and social media posts I receive from women who have been looking for a program like Body Back to help guide them in reaching their health and fitness goals. Often times, most women are seeking change of some sort... be it a number on a scale, their dietary habits or how they view themselves on the inside and out. And with all of the pressure from the media today which inaccurately depicts this immediate and almost magical transformation of celebrities instantly bouncing back to their pre baby (and for some pre teen) physique, I feel it's so important that moms realize that change will always "look" differently for everyone. Just as our babies are unique in every detail from their peach fuzz hair (or lack thereof) to their adorable little toes, we too need to realize and accept that our bodies are also unique and so is the way those bodies will adjust, adapt, and work through change of any sort... especially a new fitness regimen. So what can you expect your "change" to look like? Well, it depends on a few things and you need to start by asking yourself these questions:

  • Are you ready for change? Socrates once said, "The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new." Our results are directly related to how mentally prepared we are to be that catalyst for change. SO, what's been holding you back? Your eating habits? Lack of motivation? Low self esteem? Time? If you are truly ready to commit to change, results are undoubtedly there within your reach... you just need to take that first step. Remember that you ARE worth it! We can't change the fact that our bodies do change in their own ways throughout motherhood... but that doesn't mean you can't be in the best shape of your life!
  • Are you eating or FUELING your body? Nutrition is FAR more responsible for creating your shape and overall health than you ever could have imagined. This is why I LOVE Body Back... it ties together the intense workouts WITH meal plans that are mom friendly (quick to make and simple ingredients). Because after all, you can't out-exercise a bad diet, right? If you're ready for change, you need to be prepared to compliment a challenging fitness routine with a balanced diet that would help to support that body and give you the best results possible. We all know that saying... "Abs are made in the kitchen." So many of us strive to give our children the VERY best when it comes to healthy nutritious meals... so why don't we do the same for ourselves? And keep in mind that skipping meals can be just as detrimental as shoveling down that junk food. Make healthy choices all. the. time!
  • Are you "mind right?" Any of my clients who've trained with me through Body Back know that I ALWAYS ask this question. To be the very best version of you possible, you have to be in the right mindset... even if it's just for that 60 minute workout on some days. And with that being said, you have to keep that same mindset regardless of wether you have a spectacular week of progress or one that in your opinion may have been sub-par. Why? Because regardless of wether or not you actually see progress directly in front of you when you look in that mirror, you HAVE to remember that every single effort towards your goals is changing your body from the inside out. One slip from that focus can send anyone on a downward spiral that does nothing but distance you from your full potential. This is where accountability and support are key... something our Body Back sisters know very well. Somedays we may be the ones who need those extra words of encouragement and motivation and other days you may be the one to say just the right thing to encourage and motivate someone else.

So... think you're ready to make that change? Then go for it! Most importantly, know that that change will look differently for everyone. We have some ladies that join our programs to "lose" the baby weight... we have others that join to "find" themselves. No matter what your journey to change is, embrace it fully and never ever give up!

A journey from the inside out. Crystal joined our first Body Back session in September 2013 in the midst of battling postpartum depression... not even 3 years later she has shed more than 100 pounds and more importantly has set herself on a new journey to inspire and motivate other moms as a FIT4MOM Las Vegas Stroller Strides instructor. You can still catch her at Body Back setting new goals each and every single session.
